What is the difference between 304 and 304 304L?

Grade 304 / 304L stainless steel has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The only difference between them is the carbon content. Type 304 has a maximum carbon of 0.07% . Type 304L has maximum carbon of 0.030 %.
